Explore the magnificent and breathtaking beauty of Ha Giang with Lokahagiang. Our journey will take you to the most UNIQUE places, especially the life experiences of the northern mountainous people.
Through this special tour only designed by us, you have chances to get a great insight into authentic local experiences of three unique cultures of H’Mong – Dao – Tay ethnic groups by visiting Lao Xa – Nậm Đăm – Hạ Thành villages.
TOUR ITINERARY
DAY 1: HÀ GIANG – TREKKING LÙNG KHUÝ CAVE – NẶM ĐĂM (DAO VILLAGE) (60 km)
Highlight: Walking trail stretching into a unique cave, stay at Nam Dam village – one of the most beautiful Dao villages in Ha Giang, where 100% of the house architecture and unique traditional costumes are still preserved.
Morning:
At 7:00 am, you’ll be picked up at your accommodation in Ha Giang city and have breakfast at an heirloom restaurant for more than 40 years with “Village duck noodle soup” specialty.
Then, we’ll begin the journey to Quan Ba district. On the way, we stop and stroll around some nice ethnic villages and natural sceneries like Heaven Gate, Fairy Twin Mountain…
Next, we’ll trek to Lung Khuy cave (1,2km up a high mountain slope). The scenery on the trekking road is stunning and impressive.
Noon: Have lunch in Quan Ba town
Afternoon: Go to the community tourism village of Dao people named Nam Dam. There you’ll have chance to experience:
- Walk around the village and learn about how the Dao people make their homes as well as understand their traditional cultures.
- Trekking to Nai waterfall which is hidden in the middle of the green forest (trip distance is about 1,2km).
- Bathing with herbal leaves of the Dao people. You’ll not only bathe in a hot tub with majestic mountain views but also greatly relax and recover after a long day on the road.
Evening: Enjoy dinner with family with homegrown specialties such as hill chicken, grilled pork,… and cultural exchange with local people.
If we are lucky, we’ll be able to see the “lễ cấp sắc” ceremony held in the village. According to the custom of the Dao people, “lễ cấp sắc” is the coming-of-age ceremony of every man in the village. If the tour has many people, we can organize it separately for everyone to participate in and experience this unique ceremony.
DAY 2: NẶM ĐĂM – LAO XA ( H-MONG VILLAGE) (79 km)
Highlight: Get local experiences and stay at Lao Xa village – One of the most beautiful Hmong villages which still retains the pristine beauty and preserves its cultural values.
Morning: At 7:00 am, check-out homestay, move to Trang Kim town and enjoy a bowl of delicious hand-coated Phở.
Next we stroll around some outstanding tourist attractions such as Tham Ma Slope, Pho Cao commune, Chin Khoanh Slope…
Noon: Enjoy a family meal with locals, experience unique H’Mong typical dishes such as “mèn mén”, “tẩu chúa”, dried pork upstairs kitchen,…
Afternoon: Explore Lao Xa village, there you have the opportunity to experience:
- Learn about life in the rocky area: Understand the Vietnamese saying “Live on the rock, die under the rock”, deeply feel the “extraordinary energy” of ethnic community there.
- Learn about the traditional Hmong craft of silver carving.
Evening: Have dinner with locals (the dinner menu will be different from the lunch menu). After the meal you’ll enjoy:
- Listen to ethnic melodies through traditional Hmong musical instruments such as: Khèn Mong, flute, lip lute… as well as cultural and historical stories behind those tunes.
DAY 3: LAO XA – MÃ PÌ LÈNG TREKKING “SKY PATH” – MÈO VẠC (51 km)
Highlight: Spend a day surrounded by the breathtaking nature and walking trail stretching along the side of Ma Pi Leng mountain.
Morning: At 7:00 am, we have breakfast at homestay then move to Ma Pi Leng pass, on the way we will stop at:
- Vuong Palace – The residence of the king called “Vua Meo” of the H’mong ethnic people
Noon: Visit and have lunch in Dong Van town.
Afternoon: On the way, enjoy the typical natural beauties of Ha Giang and stop at Ma Pi Leng pass to experience:
- Trekking the entire walking route (about 13km) to explore the panorama of Ma Pi Leng, Nho Que river and the Hmong village standing on the rocky mountain.
- Bring some luckiness for the chance to admire the sea of clouds or the surreal sunset there!
Evening: Move to Meo Vac town & check in homestay. Enjoy dinner with the specialty black chicken hot pot with forest vegetables.
DAY 4: MÈO VẠC – KHÂU VAI LEGEND (KAYAKING IN 3rd NHO QUẾ RIVER) – YÊN MINH TOWN (120 km)
Highlight: Discover unspoiled sceneries and interesting experiences in Khau Vai commune
Morning:
At 7:00 am, have breakfast and move to Khau Vai commune to enjoy the picturesque and untouched beauty of nature there. You have the opportunity to experience unique activities which are only made by Lokahagiang:
- SUP or Kayak on 3rd Nho Que River
- Conquering Ha Giang’s 2nd Tu San canyon on the river
- Explore the huge and mysterious cave inside the mountain.
- Discover the most unique giant sinkhole in the North of Vietnam.
Noon: Have lunch in Nho Que river with its specialty such as fish, shrimp, wild vegetables…
Afternoon: Drive to Yen Minh town. On the way, we stop at:
- M-shaped crabs – one of the most impressive and beautiful slopes in Ha Giang.
Evening: Move to Yen Minh town to check in a homestay/hotel. Take a rest and eat dinner, enjoy local specialties.
DAY 5: YÊN MINH – HẠ THÀNH (TAY VILLAGE) – HÀ GIANG city (107 km)
Highlight: Get local experiences at Ha Thanh village – one of the most beautiful Tay villages in Ha Giang.
Morning: At 7:00 am, have breakfast and drive to Ha Thanh ethnic village. On the way you will visit Lung Tam linen village to find out and experience how handmade linen is born there. This is one of the products that is considered a “heirloom” of the H’Mong people.
Then we’ll drive along the Mien river through Du Gia National Park, enjoy its outstanding beauty that makes you deeply attracted.
Noon: Enjoy lunch at Ha Thanh village with attractive Tay food specialties with fresh fish salad, duck, five-color sticky rice,…
Afternoon: Explore the village. There you’ll have a chance to:
- Admire the terraced fields next to beautiful stilt houses and mountains.
- Get a great insight into the lifestyle and culture of the Tay ethnic people by entering a random house and interacting with the locals.
- Have a cool dip into the heart-shaped waterfall and enjoy its cool, limpid water with huge cliffs.
End of the journey, drive back to Ha Giang city. We take you back to your accommodation or bus station to go to other provinces such as Ha Noi, Cat Ba, Sapa, Ninh Binh…
